You need to get the opinion about the new acquisitions of Hiroki Kuroda and Michael Pineda from the ace of the New York Yankees, right? I was looking forward to what CC Sabathia was going to say actually. Remember... when I wrote WHY THERE NEEDS TO BE SUPPORT FOR CC MONSTER back in November, I did it because it was clear there was no way we could go into the 2012 season with the rotation we lost with in 2011. It's simple thinking and it was crystal clear to everyone in Yankeeland.Well, Cashman made his move and while it wasn't overly popular, Jesus Montero is now Seattle's new Golden Boy and we have a guy in Michael Pineda, who is eager to be a New York Yankee. Read WHY PINEDA IS READY TO BE A YANKEE. But now, as the smoke clears, we have 2 pitchers, Kuroda and Pineda and our big ace has something to say. Luckily for us, Dan Martin of the New York Post spoke to CC. Here's what he had to say:
"I'm excited, anytime you add an arm like Pineda and get a veteran like Kuroda, it makes your team a lot better."
Martin's full piece is HERE. There is no doubt in my mind the Yankees needed to make this move. I have mixed feelings about it sure, but pitching, pitching, pitching was our need and we fulfilled that need. Now, our ace has stepped forward, give the moves his blessing and we can all move forward. CC is a true leader on our club and he knows he can't do it himself. Much like the years before, CC will look for support; whether it's Pineda, or Ivan Nova or Kuroda. If the Yankees have that pitching stability, we can accomplish anything. Look for CC to mentor these guys this upcoming season, he'll support them and back him up like he's done for AJ Burnett in years past. Now that we know CC is here to stay in the Bronx and he's all in, the Monster will lead his rotation for the better... I not only know it, I guarantee it. Why? Because CC got a taste of a World Championship in 2009 and he wants that back more than ever.
How many days until Spring Training? Damn... I cannot wait.
