OCTOBER YANKEES NOTES FROM BYB

A few items not worthy of a full post, but we wanted to let you know about anyway...Why? Because we love our Bleeding Yankee Blue readers... that's why.Damaso Marte: The New York Yankees made the first smart move of the fall, they declined the $4 million option on Marte. That means he'll become a free agent. I was never a fan of Marte and yet, I found him to be rock solid in the 2009 playoffs.

He kicked some ass no doubt, but I don't remember seeing him since. Good luck Damaso, where ever you go. Read about Marte HERE.

Brian Cashman: All eyes are on Cashman and the Yankees making a deal together and according to Bryan Hoch, read HERE, it looks like a deal will be in place between now and Halloween. Sounds good to me. Cashman said: "It'll get done between now and Oct. 31st, I'm sure... I can't promise, but I think that's what everybody expects. I know it's something that everybody has to follow. But that's not a pressing circumstance, as far as something I'm worried about right now."
Nick Swisher: Wally Matthews says the Yankees plan for Swisher is to pick up his $10.25 million option. My guess is if Swisher has an outstanding season, he'll stay with the Yankees the entire year, or, maybe they try and trade him by the deadline if he's not up to par. I love Nick Swisher but the postseason disappointed me. I'm not going to lie. Read Wally's piece HERE.
Casey Blake: There is also a neat nugget coming from Wally that if Eric Chavez in fact does decides to retire, read that HERE, the Yankees may try and sign free agent Casey Blake, if the Dodgers decide not to pick up Blake's option. Read that HERE.

As more develops, we'll have it here... for you.
