"This time, I feel totally different. I'm not nervous at all. I'm on the team, in the rotation, and that's something special." -- Ivan Nova(photo: Getty)
The game starts at 1pm today and Ivan Nova is about to right the ship. All of Yankeeland feels bad for Phil Hughes, but we now will get behind our other young stud, Super Nova in what could be epic today if the Yanks can bounce back from yesterday's loss and the youngster can prove he's a leader.
As I mentioned yesterday morning, Hughes would probably have trouble, and Colon would probably come in. Well, Hughes did and he's just as confused as all of us. But one thing Hughes isn't... he's not a quitter. Yesterday when he knew his fastball was slow, he tried to compensate with cutters and sliders. You figure, it's all he could do in that situation in Fenway Park. Look, the kids going to be all right, we all just have "18 wins" stuck in our head and it's boggling our mind. Let this play out and things will be OK, it is April 9th by the way. They'll fix it... They'll have to.(photo: Getty)
The offense while alive yesterday will be back today. I expect some nice hitting for a sunny afternoon game at Fenway. Rumor has it Chavez is starting today so that will be nice to see. Throwing him into the rivalry will be exciting for him, I welcome it.
Swish will snap out of it, I know it, although, as Mikey Blue stated, he seems lost in right field, but hopefully it's just a phase.
Gardner will again be the spark plug and continue his hit streak, hopefully through the series with the Sox. Run, run, run.
First pitch is after 1pm boys, let's kick ass. Let's do it for Hughes, let's do it for us.
