It seems like the New York Yankees are ready to cut ties with Marcus Stroman, and they're not being subtle about it. According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Yankees are "actively trying to deal starter Marcus Stroman and clear his $18 million salary." In other words, they’re practically shouting from the rooftops: "Take him, please!"
Stroman's performance during the regular season didn't exactly inspire confidence. His 10-9 record, 4.31 ERA, and 113 strikeouts over 154.2 innings pitched were... well, let's just say, "meh." But it gets worse. In his final 15 games, he posted a 5.79 ERA, which was enough to make the Yankees bench him during the postseason. Ouch.
So now, the Yankees are not just looking to trade Stroman; they're apparently willing to pay down his $18 million salary to make him more attractive to other teams. This essentially means the Yankees are ready to "eat" a chunk of his contract to make him someone else's problem. Classic, right?
With this news out in the wild, it’ll be interesting to see if the "right team with the right player" comes knocking. The Yankees are clearly hoping to spark some interest and move on. Who knows? Maybe there’s a team out there looking for a reclamation project.
Stay tuned—this could get interesting!
