AROD'S FIRST HOMER NOT ENOUGH TO BEAT THE SOX

We got a good look at the kids today. That's about it.  Not a ton of fun against the Red Sox overall though. I mean, there were small highlights, but ultimately, be it Spring Training where it means nothing, or the regular season, the message is clear; we must be the Red Sox.   We didn't. Something did happen though...

Alex Rodriguez hit his first home run of the Spring.  Does it mean anything earth-shattering? Not exaclty. It does mean that he's getting his swing back... and his road back to baseball will take him up to Opening day... trust me.  It's a near 40 year old man who missed baseball for a season.  He's rusty... it takes time... but bottom line, it was nice to see.

Chris Capuano started today.  He threw 7 pitches, then made a run to get the runner out at first and pulled a quad. Ouch.  I tweeted this before we knew was the limp was all about:
Life goes on. Capuano will be back, but not for Opening day, according to ESPN, read HERE. It's a Grade 2 strain.  Look, this is what happens when you sign older guys. Aches and pains happen.  Just ask Mark Teixeira.  That was a cheap shot, I'm sorry.

I'll tell you who looked good. Joe Kelly of the Red Sox.  As Boston.com writes:

"Kelly was perfect through the first two frames, striking out Brett Gardner, Carlos Beltran, Brian McCann and Garrett Jones, while also inducing ground outs from Jacoby Ellsbury and Alex Rodriguez."

Other minor highlights were both Jacoby Ellsbury and Carlos Beltran getting RBIs.  Not alot to say about today... the Yanks scored 6, but the Red Sox scored more.

So the players will now go out to a nice dinner and go to bed early.  That's what it appears the players do these days.  Everyone down there is trying to earn a spot.

I'm personally pulling for Garrett Jones to have a successful time in the Bronx...
Let's hope so.  I appreciated him in Pittsburgh and Miami as a player and I can't wait to see what he does with that short porch at Yankee Stadium.

Final: Red Sox 10 - Yankees 6
