Don't look now, but the Yankees are 7-1 after the break.
11 hits tonight for the Yankees. When was the last time that happened? Ichiro hit a 3 run home run to put our club ahead? When was the last time that happened?
Hiroki Kuroda started tonight. He wasn't outstanding, but the guy is doing what needs to be done. You can't fault Kuroda if he ever does struggle. I mean, for the past 2 years, the guy has needed to step up for the Yankees. He has, over and over again. Tonight he went for it once again. He went 5.2 innings, gave up 8 hits and 4 runs. He gave up 2 home runs to Jose Bautista, and to be honest, those were his only mistakes.
The Yankee pen did their best to hold the Blue Jays. They are simply one of the best pens in the league. Dellin Betances is on fire right now. David Robertson is silently becoming one of the best closers in baseball this season. Tip your cap, ladies and gentlemen... good things are happening.
The Yankees run scoring went like this:
In the second, Brian Roberts singled, knocking in Brian McCann. Next, Brett Gardner sacrificed home Chase Headley. In the third, Carlos Beltran planted one in the left field seats.
Then, Ichiro hit a 3 run shot to put the Yankees ahead for good. It was Ichiro's first homer of the season.
Yup... 7-1 after the All-Star Break. Big things are happening... they're doing it quietly, but they're doing it. It's the magic we love as fans...
Go Yanks!
Final: Yankees 6 - Blue Jays 4
