BRIAN ROBERTS "LIKELY" TO BECOME A YANKEE

It's being reported that Brian Roberts is "likely" hours away from signing a deal to man second base for the New York Yankees.  That news comes from Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports:
Look, Roberts is 36 years old and while the idea of Roberts being the Yankees second baseman sounds terrible, let's try and be positive here and chalk it up as most likely a cheap signing with veteran experience.  No doubt, I would have probably chosen Mark Ellis over Roberts, but at that point, their probably interchangable.

Roberts had a .249 average for the Orioles in 2013.   He is also no longer a dynamic infielder, he's average and that's something that the Yankees don't need at this point. Hey, maybe they swap out Roberts and Kelly Johnson to give each other rest days and we leave it at that.

He's not signed yet, but "likely" and that all we know. When we know more, we'll tell you, but for now, this is the latest.
