Small story but one worth keeping you in the loop on so when you're at the water cooler tomorrow, you break it down like this:
You: "Hey did you hear about Cody Thomas?"
Them: "Who?"
You: "He's the dude that was selected in the 30th round of the MLB baseball draft by the Yankees..."
Them: "Yeah, and??"
Then you'll drop knowledge on them:
You: "Well, he's not coming to the Yankees. He's going to continue being a quarterback in the hopes to develop into a professional football player."
Them: "Um... I can't that 2 minutes back... get away from me you waste of space!"
Yeah, I know, nothing major, but interesting. According to NewsOK, "Thomas, a two-sport standout at Colleyville (Texas) Heritage High School, had been considered a top MLB prospect. Entering the draft, Baseball America ranked him as the draft’s 165th-best prospect, which would’ve placed him in the fifth round.
But Thomas’ desire to continue his football career made many teams leery of using a high draft pick on him."
Sure, it's not 100% that he won't be a Yankee one day, but it appears, according to a source close to Thomas that he will NOT sign a professional baseball contract and instead, play football for Oklahoma.
That is all... carry on.
