YANKEE CHRONICLES: PEARCE, AARDSMA & LAIRD

Steve Pearce: The Yankees resigned Steve Pearce.  This time he came from the Astros.  Read HERE. According to the Associated Press: "The Yankees reacquired outfielder Steve Pearce in a trade with Houston on Monday, giving them another right-handed bat on the bench for the stretch drive.

New York sent cash to the last-place Astros for Pearce, who began the season in New York's farm system before he was traded to Baltimore on June 2. Pearce was cut by the Orioles on July 21 and claimed off waivers by Houston a week later."

Look, the timing is right for this.  With Mark Teixeira straining his calf last night (read HERE), he's easily out 1 to 2 weeks.  Pearce can play first base and the outfield and obviously Nick Swisher too.  It just give us options, that all. I guess we'll see if Pearce is brought up right away of if he's thrown down in AAA until September call-ups.  We'll see, especially with this Tex injury.

David Aardsma: Remember when I thought David Aardsma may not come up this year? Aardsma was nice enough about tell BYB in July that he was going to begin throwing right around the beginning of August, read AARDSMA TELLS BYB HE STARTS THROWING MONDAY.  Then, we really didn't hear much, I assumed another set back...I was wrong, I like to be wrong when it comes to my New York Yankees.  He tweeted this:
Love the #keepworking hash tag.  I love the balls on this guy, he's determined.  Follow that up with this tweet letting us know that he's healthy, and there is wide speculation that we could see David Aardsma in September.
Look, I want to see him pitch, he's a hard thrower and could help us, especially if the Yankees rushed out Joba Chamberlain the way they did.  If Aardsma can help the club, and we don't rush the guy, I'm looking forward to this.

Brandon Laird: We all wanted to see Brandon Laird this season, but Laird has been designated for assignment.  To make room for Steve Pearce, the Yankees had to make a move...Laird was on the chopping block, read Ken Rosenthal HERE. Bottom line, it came down to the Yankees and the 40 man roster and Pearce is in, Laird is out.

If there is any other news about the Yanks, we'll bring it to you on BYB...promise.
