With Jesus Montero getting traded for Michael Pineda, the Yankees are in need of a DH. Suddenly, according to Jon Heyman, HERE, Carlos Pena is on the Yankees radar. I've always been fond of Pena and see him as a great fit in New York. We here at Bleeding Yankee Blue wrote WHY CARLOS PENA OVER PRINCE FIELDER MAKES SENSE for the mere fact that Pena can hit, can share first base and DH duties and would be insanely valuable. The Yankees have always liked Carlos Pena and don't forget, this is unfinished business for the Yankees... they claimed him off waivers last summer, but the Cubs pulled him back. Can we get him? And if so, the big question is how much would it take to get him to the Bronx, and if it's too expensive to pull off, would someone like Hideki Matsui or Johnny Damon make better sense? Sure, they're older, but they still have a bat and the reunion with these guys would be fun. I wanted to just keep you guys in the loop on Heyman's report. More this weekend, after all the Yankees are back!!
