Thanks to all of you guys for your loyalty and clicking every morning to read us, find the latest news, laugh alittle, smile a bit, maybe even bitch at us. The bottom line is you are there and we appreciate it. We feel like we are part of the conversation, but there are plenty of opinions about the Yankees out there and we have 1 or 2 of the many. We know our word isn’t law and we don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we do take what we do for you seriously. So thanks.
The writers at Bleeding Yankee Blue are unique and I love having them with us. They each have a certain flair and a certain beat and I think you sense that clicking on us ever morning. Keep up the great work guys!
And now the fun part. If you are interested in being part of our family, we’re holding alittle CONTEST. Do you want to be a writer? It's simple. Send us 1 writing sample about one of the New York Yankees for 2012. It would be considered a profile, projections piece. Here are the rules:
Pick one player. Discuss their achievements of 2011 and explain how that will translate into 2012. Make it conversational, not stat heavy, but stats are allowed. My favorite one will be posted at the conclusion of the contest and the winner will be considered a BYB Guest Writer until I decide if we can go further with the writing gig. The winner will win a 2009 Inaugural Season Yankee Stadium cap and "The Yankee Years" book by Joe Torre. You know you want it.
Finally, know this, this is a contest and if you win, it’s a win for you and us. If I can bring you aboard, I will, but this is not a paying gig. You will be published and then after that...well, need to see. We here at BYB do this because we love our New York Yankees and love writing for you and let's face it, we could really use the help.
The contest starts now and the deadline is midnight eastern time, February 28th. If you win, you will be notified by email. So you’ll need to send your sample to my Bleednyankeeblu@gmail.com address. You should just type your piece up like your typing an email to me and most importantly, have fun with it. Write the word CONTEST in the Subject. Finally, you must send a head shot of yourself as well as your name. If you want to get published, you need to be identified, don’t you?
Oh, and if I’m not jazzed about anything we get, it’s business as usual, no hard feelings, you know? You’ll only be notified if you win, not if you lose.
So guys, once again, thank you for making us what we are today…relevant. This couldn’t be done without the readers that read us or the other terrific Yankee Blogs out there that got me even thinking about doing this in the first place. Thanks guys.
