HERE COME THE "McCANN LANDING SPOTS"

Where will McCann go, or will he go anywhere at all?

The truth is the Yankees were looking to deal McCann during the season, but that didn't happen.  George King III of the New York Post has the reason why that happened. Check out this nugget:

"With Brian Cashman hosting his pro scouts this week for a series of meetings about the 2017 roster, Brian McCann’s future will be bounced around the room...Now, with Sanchez in line to be the Yankees’ No. 1 catcher and several teams needing a front-line catcher with power, there will be a demand for McCann, who will be 33 when the 2017 season begins and owed $34 million across the following two seasons...The Braves and Yankees talked during this past season but didn’t move past the preliminary stage. Industry sources explained the Yankees’ fondness for Braves right-hander Mike Foltynewicz likely killed more serious talks."

So, when the Yankees asked for Foltynewicz, the deal was done.  Interesting, or at least that's what I thought.

But as I've stated here before... why do we need to get rid of McCann?  The guy's a smart catcher and having him there as a mentor for guys like Sanchez and Austin Romine is perfect!  We wrote about it a few weeks ago in THE SANCHEZ-McCANN PARTNERSHIP.

If you remember though, the Yankees and Braves cut the conversation short during the season with the promise to pick it back up once the season ended.  Well... it's just about over now... I wonder if they'll talk again.

Meanwhile, the Mets are another team looking for a catcher and may check in on McCann as well. King expands on that as well.

We shall see...
