WHEN PETTITTE SPEAKS, YOU SHOULD LISTEN

Andy Pettitte was as Yankees camp yesterday... along with Joe Namath which I thought was incredibly weird, but whatever man.  For the record, I love Broadway Joe, I just couldn't get passed the fact that he was wearing a Yankee uniform. You gotta earn that shit.

Anyway... Of course, everyone asked Pettitte a variety of questions and of course, Pettitte had answers for everything and that's why it all goes back to the love of the Core Four.  He, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada... even Bernie Williams had a great relationship with the media.  Even Derek Jeter still does all these years... he's just a steel trap and we've learned to accept that.  They all respected the media because, well, the media had a job to do too and they knew that.

Pettitte spoke about everything. The New York Daily News says of Jeter and retirement:

"'We talked obviously a lot about it last year,' Pettitte said, referring to himself and Mariano Rivera. 'When we’d be talking, he’d be like, ‘Y’all better retire or I’m going to get out of here before you guys.’ You kind of look at him like, ’Yeah, right, whatever.’ But I kind of had a feeling. I just saw a little bit of a difference in Derek last year, as far as seeing me and Mo go through the last year.'

When Pettitte sent Jeter a text mock chastising him for not telling him about the impeding retirement announcement, Jeter replied, 'You knew, dude,' Pettitte said....

'It’s almost like, ’We had our run,’  Pettitte added."

Newsday had a nugget on Pettitt'e opinion of CC Sabathia bouncing back:

"The biggest thing for me is I'm trying to tell him don't worry about it... Whatever the velocity is, it is. You can't worry about that, you just need to get guys out with what you've got. So the biggest hurdle is mentally and not to worry about that.  CC's got everything it takes to be successful... I mean mentally, stuff-wise. Look, when your velocity's not quite there, you have to rely a little bit more on movement and command and to be able to change speeds and do different things pitching, and he can do all those things."

Prediction... Andy Pettitte will handle the Yankees pitchers one day real soon.

I love listening and reading Andy Pettitte talk about our club.  It gets me excited for the season. Trust me, it will be great, even without Andy...but I have a feeling he'll be visiting alot this season, especially with Jeter retiring. Jorge and Mo will too I bet... That's family for you.

Go Yanks!
