So, I'm sitting here thinking about what I do over here at Bleeding Yankee Blue... we promote the Yankees, we give our opinion as a hardcore Yankee fan site. We promote positive causes, the players, etc. And, most importantly, we try and help out our friends. It took ESPN's Wally Matthews tweet for me to realize that I actually have a vehicle here and if a buddy needs alittle plug... I need to do it, especially if that "buddy" is Pete Caldera of the Bergen Record!
What am I talking about? This... Wally Matthews posted this on Twitter (HERE) a little while ago:
I retweeted it and remember that Pete, while being a great writer is also a great singer too. We interviewed him last year in NO ONE DOES THE YANKEES BETTER THAN PETE CALDERA. That title says it all. I've been reading this guy for a long time. I admire him and I appreciate the nuggets he brings and he does it well and literally... better than many. But there's more to it... the singer part. In that interview we asked him about being a vocalist:
BYB: I need to know about the singing part of Pete Caldera (Click HERE.) How did singing become part of your life?
Pete Caldera: I'm lucky enough to get to live out two of my
passions - baseball and music. I've always been a huge Frank Sinatra fan, and a
fan of the great composers, arrangers and band leaders of the era. The singing part really began in 2000, when I
covered my first Yankees spring training for
another newspaper..."
The passion has spread, and with it we go full circle, to Wally Matthews Tweet about the Carnegie Club, and tonight, in New York City where Pete Caldera will be appearing. The plug is easy and if you are in New York City, you should try and check it out!
Again, the music takes place at the Carnegie Club tonight, 56th street between 6th and 7th. It's the Stan Rubin Quartet with Pete Caldera! No Cover! Dress appropriately and enjoy some great music.
Pete, that one's for you! Keep doing what you're doing!
