3 Yankee news stories for you and one that is very, very important to every Yankee fan. It involves Derek Jeter and now, it can be confirmed or revealed or whatever, that the Captain will miss the month of April. Devastating yes, but I can't say I'm surprised and we all had this gut feeling anyway. Ankles are tricky for anyone. Now you add an ankle injury to an active athlete and who knows if the Cap will ever be the same. One thing is for sure, Derek Jeter will do everything possible to get back, but he's not going to re-injure himself to do it. Baby steps and if that means he misses April now so he's playing every day by June, July, August, September and the playoffs... well, then I'm all in.
Here is the report on Jeet from Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.com HERE: "Yankees people are mentioning May 1 as potentially the key date in their season. The team's medical people are suggesting, at least in behind-the-scenes conversations, that May 1 could be a target date for the return of three of their missing stars: Derek Jeter, Mark Teixeira and Curtis Granderson."
Hopefully we can settle on this date, if not, I'm going to actually get alittle worried.

On the David Aardsma and Clay Rapada front. Well, it's the end of their Yankee careers. The other day, it was reported that Clay Rapada was Designated for Assignment and we, and he both knew his days were numbered. Then the Yankees granted him an unconditional release, read HERE. He was a good Yankee and we all know he'll find a place to play. He's a decent pitcher and did a good job for us.
The David Aardsma release is disappointing only because we wanted him to succeed here at Bleeding Yankee Blue. I'm sorry it didn't work out, but that's baseball. Read THE BITTERSWEET TWEET FROM DAVID AARDSMA on the day Aardsma was designated for assignment. Today, read HERE, he was officially released by the Yankees. Too bad.
If there is any other interesting Yankee news, we'll being it to you here at BYB.
