HUGHES HAS A BULGE & IT'S NOT THE GOOD ONE LADIES

Oh relax... it's a joke.
Phil Hughes has a bulging disk in the middle of his back. Apparently he was running a drill and reaching for a throw at first base when it happened. That is being reported by Wally Matthews of ESPN, you can read HERE.  What really sucks about it isn't that it will be 2 weeks until he sees action again, I mean, I think it's safe to say it will be over 3 weeks if I had to guess.  No, the worry is, if you read Brian Cashman's quote about the situation. It doesn't sound too positive.  Cashman says:
"Hopefully it's nothing major... The doctor clearly isn't aggressively treating it, and that's a good sign, but there's no guarantees until we get through the two-week process and we see where he's at."

Look, there is good news... we have good pitching, we have a backup in a Ivan Nova or a David Phelps if need be by Opening Day.  I'm not saying we're going to be in that position come Opening Day, I'm just saying that we have room to heal... it's the Spring.  Baby steps, especially now, is the perfect solution so he's healthy for the season.

We'll keep you posted if anything else develops. Get well soon Phil, we're all pulling for you pal.
