HELPING A BROTHER OUT!

Hey, it's the Holiday Season.  I am doing something for a friend of mine and an avid reader at Bleeding Yankee Blue... so brace yourself for my friend, Comedian Paul Corrigan!

That was just a sample!

Here's the reality, he's funny as hell and he deserves alittle promotion and because I'm a nice guy and in a festive mood, I am giving Paul a plug here on Bleeding Yankee Blue, just like I have for Pete Caldera when he croons at the Carnigie Club or just like I would if someone was running a charity event and need help like the South Orange Rescue Squad!

So check it out...If you live in New York or just visiting, I suggest you go out and see Paul perform some classic and original comedy!  He's underrated and deserves a full house!

Save the date!

Jan 6, 2017 at 8pm, Paul Corrigan will be at Greenwich Village Comedy Club!

Jan 14, 2017 at 7pm Paul will be at a Long Island Winery!

Go to his website and check for information and tickets:

Paul's a good, solid dude with terrific qualities! Not the mention he's friggin' hilarious and so I'm helping him out!

Happy Holidays Paul! Be sure to give Bleeding Yankee Blue a plug in your next show! That's what friends do, brother!

SOUTH ORANGE RESCUE SQUAD GETS A HOME

(Photos by Paul Temmerman)
When we last spoke about the South Orange Rescue Squad, it was back in May 2015 when we wrote REVISITING A GREAT CAUSE FOR COURAGEOUS PEOPLE.

It was about an incredible community who needed to rally together to get a building built for that New Jersey Rescue Squad.  Bleeding Yankee Blue didn't do much but donate BYB merchandise to help raise money, and we let you all know that if you had a few bucks, you could do the same.  As we wrote then:

"I have no dog in this fight other than the tell you that I appreciate kindness and courage.  The South Orange Rescue Squad needs your help.  As a BYB family... I'm asking you to rally. "

Well... many did and I'm happy to report that South Orange New Jersey Rescue Squad has a new home.

In this day and age with sad news, tragedy and stress all around us, it's nice to know that kindness still exists. A community did something right, and I am thrilled to say that BYB and it's readers had a small part in that.

Congrats to the SORS! Many thanks to our readers! You did good!

REVISITING A GREAT CAUSE FOR COURAGEOUS PEOPLE

Hey, quick note.

Remember a while back when I received a note about the South Orange Rescue Squad?  The piece was titled DIG DEEP & HELP RESCUE WORKERS SAVE LIVES. At the time South Oranger Rescue Squad needed to raise money to get their Rescue center built.  It was a huge undertaking, but a community, and many BYB readers came together to help them raise money.  It was awesome.

Now, the South Orange Rescue Squad needs your help again and I'm happy to pass this along. I just received this email from the Squad:

"We are finalists to win a $25,000 grant from State Farm to help rebuild our headquarters but we will only get the grant if you vote for us EVERY DAY through June 3rd. Click here: tinyurl.com/SORS2015 to vote now (and again every day until June 3rd) Please share this post with as many people as possible."

You can click on it. It's safe! You should vote for the South Orange Rescue Squad, the link is real, the cause is real.  Why? I'll tell you why.  Rescue personnel are the most courageous individuals ever!  They run into burning buildings when others are running out.  They show up when the conditions are at it's worst to make things better for everyone involved.  I was blown away by the support that South Orange Rescue Squad received last year when they needed money to have their facility built.  It was even better when they held their fundraiser and people from all over donated items to be auctioned off, many of it was Yankee memorabilia.  We too here at BYB donated some items.  It was an important cause then, and it's still an important cause... so VOTE and tell others to do the same!

I have no dog in this fight other than the tell you that I appreciate kindness and courage.  The South Orange Rescue Squad needs your help.  As a BYB family... I'm asking you to rally.  Take a minute to vote... and vote every day until the voting is complete.  Help them out, you'll be happy if you do, trust me... it's a good thing.

DIG DEEP & HELP RESCUE WORKERS SAVE LIVES

I once mentioned a fundraiser that took place for a rescue squad in New Jersey that needed money raised to help construct a building to house their rescue workers. You know, volunteers that sacrifice themselves to serve and protect regular citizens.  It was for the South Orange Rescue Squad... and the piece was titled:

HELP A COMMUNITY & GET SOME YANKEE MEMORABILIA DOING IT

The South Orange community and surrounding area residence all helped out in some way and that's terrific because there is nothing better than a community coming together.  We here at BYB were proud to be apart of it and donated hoodies and other items in their auctions.   Now it appears that the early stages of a new facility are about to take place, but with the building process comes more expense. And so, I received this letter the other day and I wanted to pass it on to my loyal readers.  Please take a moment and check it out:

"Our headquarters for the past 43 years has been bulldozed to make room for a new real estate development. The developer contributed funds towards the project but it is estimated that we need to raise at least another $100,000.

So we are asking individuals and businesses to sponsor different parts of the construction.

Larger donors can sponsor entire rooms, pieces of equipment or even ambulances.

Those interested in making smaller donations can sponsor bricks that will become part of the walkway to the building and tiles that will line the front entrance way.

The bricks and tiles will be laser engraved with text and logos that the donor specifies and will become a permanent part of the building's exterior."

South Orange Rescue Squad has teamed up with the Crowdfunding site Crowdera.co  and anyone interested in donating can visit. You can either click on the highlighted words above or click on the link below.  Don't worry, it's legit:

https://crowdera.co/project/south-orange-rescue-squad-new-headquarters-building-project

You can also sponsor the bricks and tiles directly at the following website:

That's the South Orange Rescue Squad website.  In closing, the letter said this:

"The best thing you could do (aside from donating) would be to share these links via social media with your circle of friends. We are hoping to get this out to a wide audience so please share the links via Facebook, Twitter, etc. and help us spread the word."

That's where I come in. BYB may be a Yankee website, but we're also givers.  We're also informers and when a community needs help, we like to lend a hand.  Truth be told, I have no connections to South Orange at all. I do however understand what it takes to sacrifice your own time and family to go out and help others on a volunteer level.  It's an incredible gesture... and noble.

Take a look, make a donation, or take those links and post them on your Facebook page.  Take a moment and help. I'm not asking you to donate $500 bucks... I'm asking you to think about donating $10.

But trust me... $500 would probably be incredible.

I hope this helps guys... good luck.
