THE YANKEES HAVE BEEN KEEPING A BIG SECRET ABOUT BIG THUNDER

Did anyone else think it was weird that Clint Frazier was not in the outfield for either of Tuesday's intersquad games? I did. The Yankees have a lot of outfield injuries they are still dealing with. Tuesday was the perfect day to get a good look at Frazier...but it never happened.

I guess we shouldn't be surprised. The Yankees have been riddled with injuries for a while now. But, it sounds like Frazier has been dealing with this specific issues for a a while also. Aaron Boone gave an update HERE and said "he had a little foot issue he was dealing with over the last couple of months, but he's been able to do everything from running and playing outfield."

Now "a couple of months" is a long stretch of time to be dealing with "a little foot issue." So what kind of foot issue are we talking about here?

It's an issue the Yankees have become very familiar with....plantar fasciitis. It's the same injury that both Jacoby Ellsbury and Greg Bird had. Maybe Frazier's isn't as bad since Boone says he has been able to run and play on it but, this injury can be really bad for some people. Look at Bird, he was diagnosed in April of last year and then we didn't see him again.

So now the Yankees are taking it slowly with Frazier, and hopefully he heals faster. The Yankees already have other outfield injuries with Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Aaron Hicks. Frazier did do some sprints in the outfield grass and had a good batting practice session yesterday so that's a piece of good news.

It's just hard to hear about these "surprising" injuries. We don't know how serious Frazier's injury is yet and it gives me flashbacks to Judge's infamous rib injury and collapsed lung that we didn't know about for months, either. We don't need anymore mysterious injuries this close to the season starting, and I don't need anymore reason to distrust the terrible Yankees medical staff.

So for now it is wait and see if Frazier will be ready to go for Opening Day. It's unlikely that Stanton will be able to play the outfield for a majority of this shorter season so the Yankees could be down two left field platoon options.

I guess Mike Tauchman or Tyler Wade may get some extra time in the outfield for now. Hope that foot heals quickly, Big Thunder. We need ya!
