JETER HITCHED!

Just a quick note just to bring closure to every female on the planet... Derek Jeter is officially married.

According to millions of sources, but we'll go with FOX Sports:

"Derek Jeter wed model Hannah Davis on Saturday night in Napa Valley, California, according to multiple reports. Back in New York, the Post made it Sunday's cover story.

 The wedding was a relatively low-key affair, with reportedly less than 100 guests. Both sides had friends and family in attendance, with Jeter also hosting a few of his old Yankees pals and Davis joined by some of her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cohorts."

And so... it's a done deal. Jeter is married, FINALLY.

Congrats to the Jeter family, to Hannah and her family and life goes on in Yankeeland.

 

DEREK JETER FINALLY DIVING IN

New York Daily News reports that Derek Jeter will in fact finally get married to Hanna Davis.  Yup ladies... it's happening.

"The Captain will marry Sports Illustrated model Hannah Davis at a Napa Valley ceremony slated to take place during the hottest month of the year, according to a source close to the pair. We’re told that the nuptials will take place early in the month, possibly over the Fourth of July weekend — but not before a night of sports.

 'There will be a croquet party on the Friday night,' says our insider. We’re also told that Davis is making plans to host a bachelorette party in Miami in early June. Jeter’s plans leading up to the big day remain unclear, though it’s likely to reunite him with Jorge Posada, who tapped the Captain to be his best man when he tied the knot in 2000. Jeter texted Posada that he’d popped the question when it happened."

Croquet? Really? I didn't see that one coming.

Love that Posada is involved in this news item and of course he's been a part of Jeter's life for a long, long time. I was always loved the relationship Jeet and Jorge have.  Let's not forget, Jeter was there when Posada needed to get back to Puerto Rico all those years ago when Jorge was searching for Laura Posada.

Obviously, he found her and the Posadas are one of BYB's favorite families ever.  Laura said this in out BYB post, THE FULL POSADA INTERVIEW:

"BYB: We have to know... How did you and Jorge meet?    

Laura: We met when we were teenagers on a baseball field where he was the umpire for my softball game.  After the game ended, we both went our separate ways until we met again at a restaurant in Puerto Rico.  After a mutual friend introduced us, he remembered he had met me at the softball game and told his roommate I was the girl he wanted to marry."

 Yup, Jeter was there, and now it's come full circle.  As Jorge said of Hannah and Derek:

"'I’m happy for him...She’s amazing. We love her. We look forward to that (wedding) day.'”

We're happy for him too.

REPORT: DEREK JETER ENGAGED TO HANNAH DAVIS

We're still trying to pinpoint if this is true, but I'm pretty sure it is. I was woken up at around 6am when my alarm turned on to 1010 Wins like it normally does.  "I don't know what's more disturbing," said the reporter, "Jacob deGrom saying he's going to cut his hair at the end of the season, or Derek Jeter reportedly getting engaged."  

I opened my eyes.  "He's going for it," I thought, and got up.

According to the Daily News, "Derek Jeter’s days as a player are over in more ways than one, according to sources close to super model Hannah Davis. Jeter and Davis are finally ready to tie the knot after three years together, and if The Captain hasn't yet set a date, that'll be the next step.

'She already has the ring,' we're told. 'The family is very happy because they really like him.'"

Now  look, there are a ton of times we have sat here and reported a nugget about Derek being married or engaged or breaking up only to find it wasn't true, so we're treading lightly here... after all, it's gossip. But I need to tell you, and this will disappoint my female audience;  I want the guy to settle down.  I hope this is true for his sake.

If it's true, congrats to the great Derek Jeter.  You snagged a babe and obviously you are happy.  I'm glad.

APPEARING "DOUCHEY" & BEING A DOUCHEBAG ARE DIFFERENT

Calm down.  Derek Jeter is still the greatest, there is no disputing that.

I had to get something off my chest the other night in reference to Derek Jeter saying he didn't miss baseball at all.  I'm not mad at him, but I do feel as though he should have chose some better phrasing.  In short, it was weird to me.

But let's not get mixed up here ladies and gentlemen. You're better than that.  Making a comment that appears "Douchey" and being an actual Douchebag are entirely 2 different things.  Jeter's no Douchebag. Trust me.  I have complimented this man for years.

He's a role model to my kids and I've written about him constantly here on Bleeding Yankee Blue, as well as in USA Today a few years ago.  You can read JETER, BYB & LOYALTY.

I've received some pretty interesting comments in the past 24 hours. I guess many feel as though they need to defend Derek Jeter, when the reality is, there is no defending... I'm forming an opinion, not attacking anyone. No need to to come to his defense... we're on the same team, remember? Check this one out:

Oh great. Apparently I need to grow up.  Why exactly?  Did I call him a "Poopie face" or something? How about this one:

Now in fairness, me saying Jeter's comment appears "douchey" is an OPINION. Just like when Tara Adams suggested my article, JETER'S COMMENT SEEMS KIND OF "DOUCHEY", "was stupid." That's fair. Trust me, I wasn't passing it off as Hemingway, I was just making a point. There are tons of fans that don't like to hear that he doesn't miss it, because in essence, it comes off as he doesn't miss "us", after all, we were apart of his run for 19 years.

Now, I don't take this Jeter comment personally, and for the record, here's the full quote below. I was merely pointing out my thoughts.

But here's the thing, you guys need to freaking relax.  No one's attacking your golden boy here.  Jeter is still sacred, but even he can say some pretty silly things.  And yes... that's my opinion too.

Jeter's enjoying life after "work", I think we all understand that.  He should enjoy his time, I just think it should have been said alittle differently.

Whatever the case, I'll always admire Jeter. I hope he and Hannah Davis are enjoying themselves.  I mean what's not to enjoy, they have a freaking horse that talks... and sings.

WITH HARD WORK COMES REWARDS

This isn't about T & A. This is about goals. This has nothing to do with the Yankees.  It has to do with Hannah Davis.

I don't know the woman, but I know the drive and the passion for what she wants to accomplish and I applaud it.  I stumbled across this video below where she is told she scored the cover of SI's Swimsuit issue for 2015.  While it's not sports related, it's "climbing the mountain" related.  You know me, I'm a sap for accomplishing goals, and when it happens for an individual, there is nothing sweeter.  Hannah accomplished her goal and this video hasn't been seen by many, so showing it now, on Bleeding Yankee Blue, the place that delivers Yankee news and honors heroes... well, I thought it was fitting. Not only did I love this, but I loved Sharlee Jeter's tweet that followed.  Just a whole lotta love going on and you have to just appreciate that!

HANNAH DAVIS EARNS SI's SWIMSUIT COVER

News? Not really.  But we have an obligation here at Bleeding Yankee Blue... we gotta report stuff that's Yankee related... kind of, sort of. OK, this isn't even close to the 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon, but whatever... here's how I see it.  Derek Jeter is dating Hannah Davis, and Hannah Davis got the cover of Sports Illustrated... and fans know that... and here we are.

Hannah Davis has always been out there.  But her career was no doubt catapulted with the help of dating the King of New York, the one and only Derek Jeter.  Don't get me wrong, she earned the cover, that's the occupation she is in, but being with Jeter had to help, right?

Oh, and just to be clear. I've always been a Kathy Ireland fan.  It must be a generational thing or something, but that being said, Hannah's nice to look at and I know that all my female writers will yell at me and I deserve it.  Go ahead and yell!   Hey, we're just doing what any site would do when news breaks... sort of...

Yup... Jeet's hittin' that.

NO PARTY FOR THE CAPTAIN

Remember when we here at Bleeding Yankee Blue reported that there was a report floating out there that Derek Jeter and Hannah Davis may be getting married this weekend? If you didn't see it, read REPORT: JETER TO GET MARRIED...MAYBE.

Now comes the real story, courtesy of Newsday:

"TMZ Sports reported Friday that Jeter would be at a “massive” party at Oheka Castle in Huntington this weekend that could be a secret wedding to girlfriend Hannah Davis.

But on Saturday afternoon the website said that although a wedding was taking place at Oheka, it was for a Crunch gym franchise owner from Florida.

A member of the Oheka hotel staff told Newsday Saturday morning via phone that even if anything were planned for Jeter, they couldn’t comment."

So there you have it.  Carry on on this cold Sunday Morning if you live in the Tri-State area.  It's October ladies and gentlemen... and I still can't believe the Yankees aren't in the playoffs.... my goodness...

REPORT: JETER TO GET MARRIED...MAYBE

We here at Bleeding Yankee Blue do not pry into people's personal lives. The Captain is someone we leave alone as well. So, when I titled this story using the word REPORT, that is exactly what it is. Use caution.

Someone on Twitter asked me if the Captain was getting married. There was a report floating out there that he was, and they wanted me to comment.  Now, I was flattered, but I'm a fan just like you guys, remember?

I didn't give him a straight answer, because, it's not my business. I am stating here very simply, whatever happens, happens. 

According to CBS, who took it from TMZ, somethings going on... maybe:

"Is Derek Jeter planning a secret wedding on Long Island? The former Yankees shortstop will be the guest of honor at a hush-hush affair at Huntington’s Oheka Castle this weekend, according to TMZ.com. And the website says there are two possibilities: a retirement party or, yep, an exchange of vows with swimsuit model girlfriend Hannah Davis.  There’s a 'buzz' that baseball’s most famous bachelor will be off the market for good by Monday, TMZ reported. But the site acknowledged not all of its sources believed the bash — with 'several high-end party vendors' at the ready — was wedding-related."

That is all BYB is saying about it until it's a done deal...or isn't.

Again... whatever happens, we wish the Captain well. We just want the guy happy.

DEREK JETER & HIS "COLD SHOWER" DISCIPLINE

The big news out this week is that Derek Jeter broke up with model girlfriend Hannah Davis. I didn't want to write about it.  I didn't care.  Then I thought about it and realized that Derek Jeter has a plan.

Now look, I know practically every female Yankee fan is super thrilled right now, hoping “there’s a chance”, but I see more than a break-up... I see discipline on the part of Derek Sanderson Jeter.  Not sure what I’m talking about? Keep reading…

I watched Raging Bull the other night featuring Academy award winner Robert De Niro playing the role of Jake LaMotta.  Martin Scorsese is a genius, De Niro is amazing and the story, while tragic, is just plain unforgettable. It's brilliantly done.

In it, there's a scene where LaMotta was getting ready for a fight and he was fooling around with his lady, played by Cathy Moriarty. At one point, he stops, walks swiftly to the bathroom and pours ice cold water down his underpants.

The messing around stopped after that. After all, he had a fight the next day. He needed his energy, his strength… he needed the ability to be his best… no distractions.  I was reading ugo.com who had the best description writing, "...he's got to keep a clear head and channel his sexual frustration into a focused energy he can draw from in the ring (or something like that)." And plain and simple, that's how I see our captain... training begins, distractions stop... THE END.

Derek Jeter is a competitor.  Derek Jeter is a New York Yankee with a mentality full of heart and guts and coming off a season of disappointment and only getting on the field 17 times last season. Derek Jeter has a helluva lot to prove. Hell, this could be his last season... think about that! So it makes sense... no mistakes, no problems.

Enter the reports about he and Hannah Davis calling it quits.  The reports were he broke up with her because she was “too big” and he’s a private person.  Too big?  No, she’s TOO HOT maybe, but how insulting to Derek Jeter that they would report she was "too big" for him and he couldn’t handle it. I mean, am I right?  This is Derek Jeter we're talking about.

You don’t get much bigger than him. And while I’m on the subject, I just don’t see Jeter as a girl snob. Sure, he's a Yankee, a stud, and he probably has any women he wants on any given night. Guess what? He's allowed, he's single and he's Derek Jeter.  Yes, we've heard about the signed baseball gift baskets, and no question that if I was as big as him, and single, I’d be doing the same thing… WHAT, THAT’S A GREAT GIFT!  I’m kidding…

The point is, the "break up" story is a story to sell papers and all I'm doing is putting this into perspective for the BYB readers... it's a different take, and I hope that's why you come to us. Look, it's my opinion that Derek Jeter is on a mission and if that mission includes cutting off alittle tail while he proves to everyone he can still play.. so be it.

Look, for me personally, I enjoyed seeing him with Minka Kelly anyway. He seemed real happy.  I mean, I found it interesting that for a guy that was so private, he had a girlfriend in his historic 3000 hit documentary on HBO.

I remember in that piece he got pretty personal saying he wanted to one day be able to show his kids that historic hit and now it was documented on HBO.



Sadly, as a fan, I was assuming his kids were going to be with Minka Kelly because she was part of the documentary.  I guess that's just me being older and seeing the family around me and thinking "Hey, maybe this guys gonna finally settle down." But that ended.   One has to wonder if that flame will ever come back between the two. Hey, maybe once he retires... who knows. I guess I root for him in his personal life too.

Whatever the case, remember this... Derek Jeter isn't being a bad guy for wanting no distractions when it comes to the 2014 season.  He's the kind of player we want... He's determined, hard working and willing to go the extra mile for his team, his fans and himself.  Yup, Hannah Davis is yesterday's news... for now at least. But it's not the end of the world, it's just the beginning of the baseball season.

It's Jeter's cold shower... his pitcher of ice... it's his mission... to be 100% for Yankeeland.  I respect that, I really do.

THIS IS THE BABE THAT STOLE JETER'S HEART

Now don't get excited ladies... I mean, Hannah Davis doesn't walk around like this. She's a super model and this is just one of her photo shoots for Sports Illustrated.  She is however reportedly engaged to Derek Jeter, our Captain, our champion and you have to wonder if this is some type of symbol.  Now, further digging revealed that they are not engaged. In fact, it's a "non-engagement ring"... whatever that is. But look, there is no question that DJ is close.  Maybe Derek Jeter has finally found the one, right at the end of his career that he can grow old with.

According to several sources, like the New York Daily News (HERE), "... the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model was spotted leaving a Manhattan Starbucks with Yanks shortstop Derek Jeter on Wednesday — sporting sparkle on her ring finger.

While the couple isn’t tying the knot just yet, the Virgin Islands-born beauty has bewitched the Bombers’ serial bachelor, and everyone who’s worked with her. 'She walks into a room and you cannot do anything but look at her,' says Sports Illustrated senior editor MJ Day, who remembers the beauty as 'sunshine in a bottle' when they met at a casting call. 'Her eyes, her lips; she’s got an incredibly fit, athletic build.'”

There is no question about that.
