That's Joey Gallo as a New York Yankee. Happy?
I wrote this on July 16th in DO WE REALLY NEED JOEY GALLO?
"Rumors are flying about a guy like Joey Gallo. Do we need him? I mean, sure, I guess. Will he help us get to the playoffs and win a World Series? Him alone with that .239 batting average? I doubt it. Will he hit home runs? Sure he will. Will his homeruns alone help us get to the playoffs? All depends on when he can strike. I don't have much faith."I DON'T HAVE MUCH FAITH!
And nothing for me has changed. And he's done nothing to make me say, "You know what? I'm wrong, Gallo made his mark in the Bronx". He has not.
The Morning Call writes: "Joey Gallo heard the boos again Monday. The Yankees’ left fielder struck out four times as the Yankees offense shut down in an 8-0 loss to the Blue Jays at the Stadium. That gives him 61 strikeouts in 123 at-bats since being traded to the Bombers at the deadline on July 30.
Aaron Boone conceded that it is finally time to think about dropping him out of the No. 2 spot in the lineup."
And dare I suggest, that putting Gallo in the 2 hole is part of the reason why the Yankees are failing. Boone doesn't even have it right. This guy ain't no 2 hole guy. Bat him 5th... bat him 6th, BAT HIM 8TH! Take the pressure off. Give the guy a chance to not only help himself, but help the Yankee win a game.
Gallo was brought in because he gets on base alot and hits home runs. But you can't hit home runs every time you're up there. And the Yankees are seeing that now. 61 strikeouts in 123 at bats is a stat that get's you demoted! It's horrendous! But Boone's a fan boy so that's why this dude with a hole in his bat continues to play. Wow.
Is Gallo the only problem the Yankees have right now? Nope. Boone doesn't know how to deal with the team's pitching and cannot scratch out a win with a failed lineup. Why? Leadership. Boone's a failed leader. Cashman, are you listening? Boone is not a guy that can command respect from his team! That winning streak a few weeks ago? That was a team streak... not a Boone streak. Boone.. and even Gallo had nothing to do with it.
So am I about being right about Gallo? No, but I'm being honest like we do at BYB... he's totally not the guy. We are wasting at bats waiting for him to do something great. Either drop this guy down in the line up or take him out entirely, because it's a waste. Trust me... even if we make the playoffs this is NOT the team that can go all the way. And if Boone doesn't get fired after we don't win the World Series again... I am pretty certain the Bronx will burn.
