WE'RE FIGURING IT ALL OUT

We're figuring it all out.  It's only April, right?  I'm looking at myself in the mirror and telling myself that it's okay despite the injuries and lack of offense from the middle of the batting order.  But it's difficult to watch the Yankees play teams that are quite frankly not as good as them and lose, or fall behind like we've been doing, until Saturday afternoon.

"A little bit of a blow with the injuries; we have to weather the storm," said Skipper Aaron Boone in his post-game press conference.  Boone said it was a "good day" and credited the second half of the lineup for getting it done offensively and defensively in Saturday's 8-3 win over the Orioles.  Tyler Austin went 2 for 4 and Ronald Torreyes went 3 for 4, while Aaron Judge went an abysmal 1 for 4.  A bright spot in the lineup was veteran Brett Gardner who got on base five times against the O's.

"He's such a tone-setter, the hard-nosed way he plays the game.  He gets after it...that's one of the guys you want leading your club," said Boone.  Starter Sonny Gray talked about his own resilience today, sparked by Gardner who "came out of the dugout like a cannon."  Although Gray pitched well, he eluded to the fact that he could do better and will do better each time he goes out there.

Honestly, the Yankees are not convincingly beating up on their AL East rivals, like we all thought they would with Judge and Giancarlo Stanton in the meat of the order.  Unlike Boston, who has been winning and winning big against teams, topping the AL East with a 7-1 record.  We finish up with the Orioles later today and head to Boston for a three-game stint beginning on Tuesday.  Let's hope that with Aaron Hicks expected back in the lineup when the team goes to Boston and the team's rebound on Saturday after two tough losses, the Yankees are picking up some momentum and can grab some wins on the road.
