I hate speculation... a lot. But reading through the papers the past 4 days, I've noticed some pretty nice names that could be Yankee targets this offseason when it comes to pitching and I had to share them. Will any of these pitchers land in New York? I'm gonna suggest that out of the 3 I'm listing here, maybe Patrick Corbin seems to be the most logical. Anyway... check out these names. The first 2 come from the New York Daily News...
Dallas Keuchel:
"Dallas Keuchel, the Astros’ Yankee-killer, is also a free agent this winter. Keuchel is coming off a mediocre year, which has some red flags. He threw a career-high 204 innings and his strikeout rate is down. Most of his postseason success has come against the Yankees (a 2.09 ERA compared to 4.03 ERA against everyone else)."
Nathan Eovaldi:
"Right-hander Nathan Eovaldi dominated the Yankees in Game 3 of the American League Division Series and has likely raised his profile and price as a free agent this winter."
This one comes from NJ.com...
Patrick Corbin:
"Patrick Corbin, LHP 2018 club: Arizona Diamondbacks. Age: 29 (30 on July 19, 2019. Size: 6-3, 210.
Contract: Made $7.5 million in 2018 on a one-year contract signed Jan. 11, 2018 (Avoided salary arbitration).
2018 stats: Diamondbacks, 11-7, 3.15 ERA, 33 starts, 200 IP, 162 hits, 70 runs, 70 ER, 15 HR, 48 BB, 246 K...
Possible fit: No. 2 starter. Fast fact: The two-time NL All-Star didn’t play baseball in high school until he showed up for a tryout his junior year in blue jeans and announced he wanted to be a pitcher."
What does it all mean? Nothing right now... but it's fun to think about.
