Now, when I saw the news about sending Jordan Montgomery down, I just wasn't thinking clearly. My first thought was,
'Okay, no big deal I guess... we have Sonny Gray and Jaime Garcia now." Then I saw Suzie Pinstripe going off:
And then I thought, "
OK, I get it, fan frustration, totally warranted." Then I read today that there was a reason why the Yankees 'claim' to have sent down JoMo. Notice the quotes on claim... more on that in a moment.

"New York Yankees rookie Jordan Montgomery was demoted to the minor leagues in an attempt to limit his innings...."
OK then, fine and attempt. Got it. But then I see this tweet:
And now I'm alittle aggravated. I mean, why try and cut his innings limit if you're gonna start the guy anyway in the minors? And trust me, I know he's a starter, but how much are they gonna throw him down there and what's the difference at this point?

Look, I have to say, it was a pleasure to have JoMo in the rotation this season. He was fun to watch and a real nice story. But my feeling is that if the guy did a decent job, why not go 6 man rotation;
Masahiro Tanaka,
Luis Severino,
CC Sabathia,
Sonny Gray,
Jaime Garcia and
Jordon Montgomery. This way he's still in the Bigs and he gets less work. Being the minors or in the majors on a 6 man rotation doesn't seem to make much of a difference to me.

Look, I guess I don't care enough about this, but I did find it curious, and sadly, I don't believe the Yankees thoughts on players that often... and reading that he's starting for the RailRiders Saturday doesn't make a lot of sense anyway.
Oh well.
