AROD SHOULD TRAIN AUSTIN AT THIRD!

Base Coach, Hitting Coach, Bench Coach, or maybe even Manager. Could you see any of those positions in ARod's future? According to the Daily News, Hal Steinbrenner said it might.

"Hal Steinbrenner said Wednesday during an eight-minute State of the Yankees address with reporters that he could envision A-Rod’s role within the organization expanding in the future, although there have been no discussions between the two sides about specifics."

Looking past the steroids and drama, Alex has always been a good teammate and has a tremendous work ethic. During his playing days, he was always on the field during pre-game running down ground balls and, when he wasn't the one doing the chasing. He was working with the other guys. In an article from ESPN from August of 2016, I found this very interesting. Tex was quoted as saying:

"Alex is one of those guys that’s always working so he sets a great example for young players. He’s always willing to help. He loves to talk about the game,” the first baseman said. “He’s just a student of the game and, because of that, guys want to be around him.”

Now I've read many articles over the last couple weeks all wondering one thing; What about moving Tyler Austin to third base? Tyler has played some third base and I believe he could be capable of it at the Major League level. In fact, Casey's own 14 year old son floated that idea here on BYB a month ago and Kim Austin, Tyler's mom was loving it on Twitter. Read MY KID WANTS TYLER AUSTIN AT THIRD BASE!

The idea is not new... but it is smart and couple it with Tyler getting some help from ARod and we could be onto something here. I really believe this is where ARod could come in and help. If he could work with Austin at 3rd, that would help alleviate Suzie Pinstripe's concerns from her fantastic piece YANKEE SPRING STORYLINE 2: WHO'S ON FIRST?

The Yankees then could trade Chase Headley for a couple bags of baseballs. Of course, if it doesn't work out with Austin, it would end up with I Don't Know on third. But I hope not!

Look, I could be way off on this one. It sounds like a good idea and seems so easy when you're writing it down. We all know it's not but, I really believe Alex could help a lot here. I think they should give it a shot.

Hell, the guy is making $21 million whether he sits around or helps out a little. Let him help! We can't lose!
