Every time I think of what we had when we had the Core Four, I get goose bumps. Did we know how good we had it when the Core Four organically formed and collectively became the straw that stirred the drink? Maybe... but not really. We may not have even known what was happening because everything sort of all clicked naturally. So, when I read about the possibility that we could have a Core Four 2.0, I got goosebumps all over again.

“Anytime you get a group like the one that we have right now around each other at all times, you can’t help but dream what the future can be like,” said Clint Frazier in a New York Daily News feature earlier this month. “We’ve got to come together and unite as a core group and make it happen. There’s a lot of really good players in the system, so for all of us to be competing for one goal, to make it to the big leagues and ultimately win a championship one day, that’s something that all of us have talked about," said Clint Frazier, the prized piece of the Cleveland Indians' trade for Andrew Miller prior to the end of the 2016 season.

The Core Four 2.0 Frazier is referring to include himself a rising outfielder, shortstop Gleyber Torres, pitcher Justus Sheffield and catching phenom and runner up for MLB Rookie of the Year Gary Sanchez.

Even though you may be feeling a slight pit in your stomach about what we walked away with or didn't walk away with at the Winter Meetings, Core Four 2.0 has a nice sound to it. It may take a little longer than 2017 to get there, but the important thing is that we have the makings of getting there. We are the New York Yankees, after all. We are not only used to winning, we are also used to waiting for good things to come, even when there's a drought between championships. At least we didn't wait 108-years- just maybe a little more than 8, and that's OK if there is a Core Four 2.0 on the other side of the fence.
