TA-KNOCK-A YOU OUT!!

OK, cheesy but still today Masahiro Tanaka was on fire. He kept the Blue Jays bats pretty quiet and the Yankees did just enough to keep them on top. Keeping the Blue Jays bats at bay is no easy task and he did it well. It was a good day, and the Yankees have great momentum heading into tomorrow.

I don't know what has gotten into Carlos Beltran the last two games, but keep it up! He set the tone in the top of the first hitting a solo home run off of Marco Estrada in the top of the first. The Yankees struck first and that was nice to see.

The offense was pretty quiet after that but it was all about Tanaka. He was locating and attacking hitters. He wasn't giving the Blue Jays the fastballs or inside pitches that they love. He was cruising along until the fifth inning when he walked a couple of batters. The Jays got the bases loaded and luckily, they only scored one run when Josh Donaldson hit a sacrifice fly and Ryan Goins scored allowing the Jays to tie it up. Tanaka was an ace today.

Even thought the Jays tied the score, Mark Teixeira answered back in the top of the sixth and hit a solo home run to right field. He wasn't done though because once again in the top of the eighth he singled in Chris Young adding to the Yankees lead.

Then in the top of the ninth Jacoby Ellsbury singled to left driving in John Ryan Murphy. At that point, it was all Tanaka once again. With a tired bullpen and a quiet Jays offense Joe Girardi sent him back out to finish what he started.

With a complete game in the books for Tanaka, and a strategic Yankee offense today the Yankees have won the series. Now, the Yankees pass the ball to Luis Severino tomorrow. Can we win tomorrow and give the Jays a sweep in return? I hope so!

Oh and side note.....Congrats to Greg Bird for getting his first major league hit! Here's to many more to come.

Final: Yankees 4- Blue Jays 1
