CARLOS BELTRAN TO HAVE SURGERY

Well, he's trying, but he's only hurting himself, and the team.  Carlos Beltran is going under the knife when the season ends.  If I could have a say in it, I say make Beltran have surgery now and put Ichiro in his spot.  I don't have much faith in Beltran.  You can't play hurt, it's obvious.

It's being reported by Brendan Kuty of the Star Ledger Beltran will in fact have surgery:

"Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran said Wednesday he believes his planned offseason elbow surgery won't affect his status for spring training next year.

The 37-year-old said he'll likely have an operation to remove an old bone spur in his right elbow soon after the Yankees' season ends, which increasingly looks like it will be after their final regular-season game Sept. 28.

Approximately two months of rest will follow before Beltran will be able to throw again, he said. But that will give him plenty of time before position players report to spring training in early February, he said."

So there you go... Carry on.
