THE YANKEES HAVE BECOME THE DARK HORSE

It was one of those games where you and I and millions of Yankee fans were squirming, uncomfortable, moaning a bit while we were watching.  After all, we expect our Yankees to explode at any moment, but those moments haven't happened. It was a pitching duel for a while tonight.  1-1 until the 7th. Then, suddenly it was 5-1... and like the baby that's all over YouTube who suddenly hears Katie Perry's Dark Horse and gets all happy for the world to see... much did we too. The Yankees hit, and scored tonight. The Yankees won and all is right in the world.

I tweeted a message to Yankee hitting earlier tonight...
I'm right and you know it. Bottom line, it was time to explode as a team. The funny thing was, I just wasn't sure if tonight would be the night. Thank God it was.

Chris Capuano has been good for us and I'm happy he's there. Great pitching from him tonight.  6.2 innings pitched and he gave up 5 hits and 1 only run.

The Yankees had 8 hits.  The run scoring went like this:

In the bottom of the 5th, Chase Headley homered. It was a solo shot.  In the 7th, Brian McCann hit a solo shot as well.  Dare I say, McCann is starting to come around.  Good time to start hitting.

Then, in the 8th, things happened.  Mark Teixeira singled knocking in Brett Gardner.  Then, according to MLB.com:

"Yankees challenged (tag play), call on the field was overturned: Brian McCann grounds into a force out, first baseman Miguel Cabrera to shortstop Andrew Romine. Jacoby Ellsbury scores. Mark Teixeira scores. Carlos Beltran out at 2nd. Brian McCann advances to 1st, on a throwing error by shortstop Andrew Romine."

Rally time. And just like that, it was 5-1,  Yanks up.  Our relief of Adam Warren and David Huff shut the door.

The Yankees win, and just like that, I love Katie Perry's Dark Horse now... what can I say.

Final: Yankees 5 - Tigers 1
