VERNON WELLS IS RELEASED
You knew it was part of the process. Last week Vernon Wells was designated for assignment. Read GUESS WHAT HAPPENED TO VERNON WELLS. This week he has been released. It's official. You can read that HERE.
The writing was on the wall. When the Yankees acquired Carlos Beltran and Jacoby Ellsbury and they already had the quick Brett Gardner, the still athletic Ichiro Suzuki and the power hitting Alfonso Soriano... you knew it was only a matter of time.
Wells was a good player for us early on last year, but just hit a wall. Sure, there were moments of greatness, but it was clear, age had caught up to him. No biggie, it happens to everybody.
I wish Wells well... get it? Seriously though, I like the guy and I hope he latches onto a team. He's a gentlemen, a good teammate and just a helluva nice guy. I know there's still something left in the tank... I know he knows that too.
Good luck Vernon, from all of us here at BYB.
