BREAKOUT PROSPECT OF THE YEAR: TYLER AUSTIN

I received a note from the River Dogs guy Sean Houston about something very cool and involved a Yankee prospect I'm look forward to seeing roaming our outfield, or infield one day!
Former Charleston River Dogs outfielder Tyler Austin has been named the recipient of the MiLBY Award for Breakout Prospect of the Year as voted by fans nation-wide. Austin played in 70 games as a River Dog before being promoted to the Tampa Yankees.

While Austin was with the Charleston River Dogs, he batted .320 with 14 home runs and 54 RBI. He also had 17 stolen bases.

River Dogs hitting coach Greg Colbrunn said of Austin: "I am proud of Tyler Austin for the great season he put together this year... He’s a guy who has a ton of talent, and worked very hard to get better every day. It’s certainly a well deserved award, and I’m happy for him.”

Austin was selected by the New York Yankees in the 13th round of the 2010 MLB Amateur Draft.

Great job to Tyler Austin!
