YANKEE RUMORS & BYB: PART 14

Nick Swisher: Buster Olney has tweeted that he believes the Yankees may want to deal Nick Swisher. To me, I happen to agree, I think Nick's days may be numbered. Weeks ago Bleeding Yankee Blue wrote WHY I TAKE SWISHER OVER BELTRAN. At the time, there was alot of buzz about the idea that having Carlos Beltran on the Yankees and how that could be a smart idea. While there are positives with Beltran, there are negatives too and the most important negatives are age and injury history. Plus, Swisher can still hit and is a fan favorite. That being said, Cashman has met with Beltran's agent as well as Yoennis Cespedes' guy (Read HERE), both outfielders, both, could easily take Nick Swisher's spot. You have to wonder, is something going on?

Yoennis Cespedes: And speaking of Yoennis Cespedes, he'd be seeking a contract in the range of $35-60 Million. Look, there are a ton of teams looking at this kid and there is a ton of hype about him too and that You Tube video is ridiculous HERE, you have to admit but the Yankees may just need to take a chance on this guy, after all, we can afford it. It's very possible he will in fact live up the the hype.

Freddy Garcia: The Yankees are still very interested in Freddy and Freddy would like to come back. Read about it HERE. They also have interest in Bartolo Colon again, wow! Anyway, back to Freddy...I believe he may test the free agent market and it was reported that he may look for a multi-year deal somewhere, maybe even New York. If the Yankees were smart they offer a 1 year deal and if they do offer 2 years, they just need to protect themselves in case Garcia breaks down in 2012. The good news is, the Yankees have some kids in Dellin Betances and Manny Banuelos who will possibly be on their way up in 2012.

Ricky Nolasco: The Miami Marlins have seemed to be the most aggressive this offseason with offers already going to Mark Buehrle, whom I love, as well as Albert Pujols and Jose Reyes. With Ozzie Guillen as the new Marlins manager, things could get downright nutty early with them. The point is, Jon Heyman is suggesting that the Marlins are not willing to deal Nolasco, but I’m not so sure I believe that. (Read HERE) I agree with Heyman on this one, if the Marlins get a big free agent pitcher this off season, would they trade Nolasco? Stay tuned on this one.
