WHY CARING SPEAKS VOLUMES

(Photo: Bill Menzel)
Do you know what the
MVP Foundation is? I didn't but when I learned about it, I needed to tell you all about it because their doing some great work. It all starts with a man named Dr. Thomas Haveron. In a nutshell, he, over his lifetime had many family members stricken with Cancer, so he decided to doing something about it, help others with Cancer and make them MVPs. The Doc started his Wellness center that dealt mostly with chiropractic therapy and eventually he started the MVP Foundation to help people in need.

In, the process of doing this service, he reached out to Bleeding Yankee Blue and also got to know some big name Yankees who got behind the cause as well. Plus, Major League Baseb
all got on board. (In Photo: Mabel Mayorga / Photo: Myrna Sharma)
It breaks down like this; Once MVP was formed, it started it's award giving.
The MVP Foundation's first recipient of their award was Mabel Mayorga. She does volunteer work at Dr. Haveron's Wellness clinic and all the while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Because of all of her hard work and dedication, MVP had awarded her money to pay for her next step in education. Mabel will be attending the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey with no financial burden this fall. (In Photo: Tristin Greer / Photo: Myrna Sharma)
Through the friendship with Mabel, the Doc got to know Tristin Greer, a cancer victim. Tristin Greer is a 14 year old boy who's
been going through a ton of radiation.

Haveron, with his connections, was able to get Tristin to meet a bunch of the Yankees, along with the Red Sox players for pictures and autographs during a big Yankees Sox rivalry game this year. (In Photo: Tristin Greer / Dr. Haveron) (Photo: BillMenzel)
As Haveron puts it "
I finally saw the young boy come out and the young man Tristin step back and take a break from the daily business of fighting Cancer!"

Soon after that meeting, Dr. Haveron met Leslie, a young 10 year old girl who he heard through the grapevine had become a little distant since she had been diagnosed with the same form of Cancer as Tristin. Haveron sprung into action again, all to get a smile. He was able to host Leslie at a Yankees game and she got to meet players like Robinson Cano, Francisco Cervelli and others.

But the Doc didn't stop there. With thanks to the MVP Foundation and Major League Baseball, tonight at the Yankees / Indians game in Cleveland, Tristin Greer will be throwing out the first pitch with Leslie and the Doc present. As Haveron puts it, he was raised to give back.

Doc, what you managed to do for these kids is tremendous and we here at BYB salute your fine work. I wanted to share this story because it's special. It's not every day that you see people giving back.

Thank you Doc. Tonight BYB fans, if your in Cleveland, wave to Tristin, to Leslie and wave to Dr. Thomas Haveron. Give them an extra smile, it's the right thing to do.
