I gotta say, I love this Cleveland Indians - I mean GUARDIANS team, they fascinate me. They all act like the can talk the talk and walk the walk, but boy does it backfire sometimes.... like last night. I don't care what name is on their jerseys, for me they are the Cleveland Clowns.
We got our first look earlier this season when clown #1 Myles Straw decided to scale the outfield wall like he was freaking Spiderman thinking he was going to best angry Yankee fans and make them feel small or something. Boy, that didn't work out so well.
Now we have clown #2 Josh Naylor trying to get inside Gerrit Cole's head with his "rock the baby" antics after he hit his solo home run. In case you didn't get a good look at it, check it out.
As he's rounding first base doing his silly little dance he yells "That's my f--cking little son" into the camera. Supposedly, this is normal for nutty Naylor, and he's done it to other players. This Naylor kid is funny, calling himself Cole's daddy. This kid has balls.... he's just not very bright.
First of .... who the hell is this kid? Seriously, never heard anything about him until last night. Then you go look at his stats and laugh. This is his first season playing over 100 games. He's also got a .253 career average so far, just barely had a career high 20 home run season and had more strikeouts than RBIs. Okay kid.... sure, you win.
Except you didn't win at all. You are a nobody coming back to the Bronx for the last game of the series. You and your buddy Straw man are great circus clowns. I can't wait to hear what fans in Yankee stadium chant at Naylor today.
I lost postseason baseball. I love that Naylor and the Clowns lost last night and Cole pitched a great game. I guess that makes Cole CLEVELAND's daddy. Time to bring it back to the Bronx and finish this!
Some people just don't get it. Myles Straw is one of those people, apparently.
The guy has a target on his back now and he's about to be 28 years old. He's been around the game long enough to know how to handle himself. He should've known that scaling the left field wall to yell at crazy Yankee fans wasn't a brilliant idea. It's a decision that will stick with him every time he plays a game against the Yankees.
So, Straw's return to Yankee stadium wasn't warm and fuzzy.... big whoop, read more HERE. He's not the first to get this fan treatment and he certainly won't be the last. This also won't be the last time he gets it either. He can look forward to the same unwelcome reaction every time he steps foot in Yankee stadium, and I am not stating my opinion.... it's a fact.
So, Tuesday night he heard Yankee fans in the stands yelling at him and this time he decided not to scale a wall and act like Spiderman. He didn't react this time, but he didn't like what he heard, "They were personal. It's all good though. I'm just out there chilling playing center field," Straw said very ineloquently.
Obviously, death threats are a whole other level and that's disgusting and speaks volumes about people who go to this extreme. Straw says there was "no point" in talking about Tuesday's game but he still wants to whine about it. There's a lesson to be learned here. There are certain fan bases that have loyalties that are so deep that they are in a league of their own.... New York is no exception. Small town Cleveland and Houston where he's played before do not compare.
Maybe now he's learned a lesson the hard way, because now he has a target on his back every time he steps in New York. Big mouth picked a fight, can't back it up now and wants to whine about it. No sympathy here.... just makes me want to beat you even more.
Remember. Myles Straw said Yankee fans were the worst fanbase on the planet. That was because the group of Yankee fans that threw trash on the field, a batch of bad apples in right field made all us Yankee fans look bad. But let's remember the context.
Yankee fans were razzing the opponent like they always do, just like any other fan who loves any other team on the planet. (I've been the Cleveland, those fans are just as passionate and razz-filled as Yankee fans are.) And so if we're gonna start talking about the "worst"... wouldn't this moron think about his picking a fight with the fans before saying we were the worst? Seems weird to me. This video is ridiculous. Kudos to the fan who shot it. And shame on Straw for being just as ridiculous as a razzing fan. If you're in the bigs, like it or not, you gotta take. Who the hell climbs a fence and picks a fight?
Look, baseball fans... and I mean most hardcore ones, usually want results and get incredibly passionate and insane when things don't go their way. That's historic. Why? Well... these days it comes down to the amount of money we pay for to get into the building. And so, fans feel like they're renting a seat for three hours.... they're paying way too much for food and drinks, and in some regard... subliminally, those players work for them for that length of time. That's not the way it works... but for sure it's how they feel. Yesterday at Yankee stadium Yankee fans literally harassed Indians players after the Yankees walk-off win. THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A SECOND. The Yankees won, not lost and they decided to throw garbage at players. For what reason? I have no idea. But they did.
But look, the idea of fans getting a little careless and out of control has been going on for years. The idea of your team winning is all you want because that means your hard-earned money was worth it. When teams lose, you feel like you lost a bet. I remember the 1970's Yankees very well. Winning a World Series mean storming the field. Touching the players if you could. We all remember Chris Chambliss after Game 5 of the 1976 ALCS when he literally clocked a guy because he knew he had to reach all bases for it to count. He never reached home because it just wasn't safe.
Fans are fanatical. Fans feel like they are part of it. And because of fanatical fans, win or lose, that's why rules were put in place to keep fans away. Why? Because it gets dangerous.
I think about that time Rick Monday of the Dodgers saw two fans lighting the American flag on fire in the field and Monday, thinking quickly ran and saved the flag from being burned. It was a heroic move, but at the time, Monday was just reacting because fans were on the field up to no good.
That act was despicable. But fans were there to make a statement, and they were destroyed after that.
With tighter restrictions for fans, the angrier they get, the more rabid they get and the crazier they get. There's always a guy that will try and run out on the field and get away from security just to say they can. There are plenty of fans that mess with ushers and police at games. I've seen it plenty at games. Fans feel like their beer muscles need to take over because they made it into the building and nearly spent $500 bucks or more for those few hours. They rented their space "to do whatever they want."
Is it right? Nope, but you know what is, ok? Razzing guys on the field. Telling them they suck, booing them, whatever. That's part of the game. Sorry to all the pro fans out there. It's what we pay for and it's what you signed up for.
You know what's not, ok? Picking fights with fans who razz, and then when others do something stupid like we saw the other day at Yankee stadium with the trash, group all the fans together as "the worst". Straw can act like he's innocent in all of this, but he ignited the whole shitshow like it or not.
I tweeted that Straw will be a wanted man at Yankee stadium from now on. He'll have an X on his back. It wasn't done to pose a threat, but to make a statement.
Do you honestly believe Straw will have a boo-free game now for the rest of his life at Yankee Stadium? He has an X on his back because of crap like this.
You win a game with class. You respect your opponent. You play to win but win with integrity. Those are things I learned as a kid growing up playing baseball.
As a fan there is always a degree of razzing. That's also part of the game, and when it comes to pro games, there should be nothing different. You pay your hard-earned money to root and boo how you choose... but how you choose, WITHIN REASON.
Here's a question. Why the hell were the fans throwing crap at Cleveland Indians after the Yankees won today? Why is that OK? Well... it's not.
But here's another question. When teams play to win and teams tie the game up, fans get rowdy right? Nornal. But is it normal for a player to literally CLIMB THE FENCE TO SAY SHIT AT THE FANS?
Fans throw shit on the field after the Yankees win, but before that, Straw from the Indians forgot that he's in the Bronx and decides that he's gonna tame an entire Yankee crowd. So he climbs the fence and trash talks a few of them face to face with the entire world watching. Does he consider that being noble? Being tough?
Myles Straw is a player from out of town. Act like you've been there before! Straw acted like a child, and no doubt ignited the entire showering of trash on the baseball field after the walk off win by the Yankees. Straw should have never climbed the fence and trashed talked fans back to them after the Yankees tied the game.
You want to talk about context? That's context. But let's take it further...
Why do many Yankee fans get trashy? Why, as a fan would you throw shit on the field? Why don't you celebrate the win with some integrity and class and walk out the stadium door singing New York, New York? Today didn't have to be so damn trashy. But who do you blame? I don't necessarily blame the fans. I get what they were trying to do. It was a signal to Myles Straw and friends... "You watch your ass; this is the Bronx."
Now the problem with that is we got to go to Cleveland eventually. And our players are going to get shit on when we go, because real baseball fans do NOT forget. Cleveland fans are great. But they love their team. So, God forbid Judge gets a beer can to the head in Cleveland's outfield... don't act like you're surprised. Us Bronx diehards? We did that. Yes, we should have mocked Straw... laughed at him... taunted him... but we should have stopped there! Throwing stuff at players after a win is about as disgusting as it gets... and by doing that, we just put our team in harm's way. We're better than that.
Myles Straw's best move right now is to acknowledge that he was a moron climbing the fence and inciting violence. Saying "Worst fan base on the planet" referring to us Yankee fans, isn't true, but not only that.... it only means he doesn't understand loyalty.
Guardians OF Myles Straw shared his thoughts after today's game against the Yankees. pic.twitter.com/DJDjtiAUiW
But what's worse is what could now happen to our Yankees when they go to Cleveland. And I blame the fans for that. We're idiots for throwing stuff. Those guys throwing trash? they're only thinking about themselves. They're weak and stupid.
Straw needs to get a life... this is true. Us Yankee fans? We need to remember what integrity is. We've forgotten.
P.S. I know they're the Guardians now. But I hate it. Bleeding Yankee Blue will continue to call the Cleveland Indians, Indians. Guardians doesn't work for me.
