LUKE VOIT FIGHTS TO STAY IN THE YANKEES LINEUP IN TRIUMPANT WIN!

There is no question that when healthy, Luke Voit is a beast. With Anthony Rizzo coming to the Bronx, there is no question that Luke Voit is annoyed by the whole thing, despite him showing face and acting like it's no big deal and acting thrilled that Rizzo is there.

There is ZERO question, Voit's not only frustrated, but annoyed and discouraged that his current employer pushed him aside. The New York Daily News can try and couch it all they want in their headline Luke Voit is frustrated but not discouraged by Yankees’ trade for Anthony Rizzo, but if you are a human being, with human emotion, you know it's true.

And so what did Voit do last night? He homered. He homered when his team needed him most.  And for me as a fan, it appeared that that was what got this team to scratch out yet another win in this weird game.

MLB writes:

“It was the definition of a team win,” said Voit, who drove in the game’s first run with a seventh-inning single and homered in the ninth. “Everybody on the lineup card got the job done. Obviously, we had some ups and downs, but we kept fighting back. Luckily, we came out with the win.”

It was the first game in Major League history in which both teams scored in the seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th and 11th innings, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Kansas City became the first team in the Modern Era (since 1900) to erase a deficit in innings seven, eight, nine and 10....

Playing his second game since being activated from his third stint of the season on the injured list, Voit launched his fourth homer of the season in the ninth, a solo blast to right field. Voit led the Majors with 22 homers during last year’s pandemic-shortened campaign.

“I finally feel like I’m landing good on my leg,” Voit said. “I’m able to drive through that front knee. It’s been a struggle for me because I was being soft with it. I was getting into bad habits because I was favoring it a little bit, especially earlier. It feels back to normal, and that’s all I can ask.”

And now what will Voit do? He'll keep grinding. Confidence is good for any player, and now what happens is he will stay laser focussed and try to get back in the Yankees front lines as their first baseman and "go to" line up guy. It will be a big fight for Voit. Rizzo is a fan favorite in just a short time of being in New York. But there's no question that us fans love Voit too.

Bottom line, if Boone can find a way to keep both Voit AND Rizzo in the lineup every day... we will see alot of runs and a ton of wins.

Nice win Yanks... way to grind Luke.
