Gerrit Cole is awesome and this is just another moment where we can thank him for coming to the New York Yankees.
"Cole did set an MLB record. When he struck out Joey Gallo for his third strikeout of the night, it was Cole's 59th strikeout since his last walk. That is the most strikeouts between walks in baseball history. The previous record was not longstanding. Milwaukee Brewers ace Corbin Burnes struck out 58 batters without issuing a walk to begin this season before walking a batter in his start last week. Burnes holds the record for most strikeouts without a walk to begin a season. Cole holds the record for most strikeouts without a walk at any point in the season."
Cole's just a pro, an old school, tough as nails pitcher and I gotta be honest with you... I kind of can't believe the Yankees are winning as much as they are with the rest of our rotation. I'm not loving our rotation guys after Cole. But we are finding ways to win and turn this season around and I could not be happier about it.
Here are the standings right now:
Don't look at place, look at games back. These standings will change 19 times between now and the end of the season. The Yanks are coming baby!
Bring it Yanks... bring it!
