Irony at its best comes to light as Alex Rodriguez once again follows in Aaron Boone's foot steps and this time it's not at third base, it's in his vacated broadcast booth. If you are not sure where I am going with this, read on.

Back in 2003, Aaron Boone injured himself in the off season, playing basketball, a no-no in his player contract. This injury ignited the Yankees to make a play and then some for top dollar athlete Alex Rodriguez. And just like that, Rodriguez began his career at third base for the New York Yankees, replacing Boone whose pennant winning home run will go down in history as one of the best and finest blasts in Yankee lore.
Fast forward to 2018 and Rodriguez signs a big contract with ESPN, replacing Boone at the mike for Sunday Night Baseball and acting host and executive producer for a number of specials throughout the year.

“I’m looking forward to this new chapter in my broadcasting career,’’ A-Rod said in a statement released by ESPN. “It’s an exciting time in baseball and now I get that front row seat to tell that story every Sunday night on ESPN as well as calling my fourth postseason on Fox where I started this journey."

Rodriguez will continue his work for Fox in the post season where his analysis and interplay with a team of former players and sports reporters was valued by many baseball fans. "A-Rod has received rave reviews for his analysis on Fox Sports, but commenting on a live baseball game isn’t the same as an in-studio chat. But considering how well A-Rod has taken to broadcasting, there’s little doubt that he’ll also excel at this," reported Yahoo Sports.
Good for ARod, good for fans and who knows where this next chapter will take him. Perhaps he will follow Boone again into the Yankee dugout but this time as a coach or even a manager. Time will tell.
