YANKEES ARE BULKING UP THE 40 MAN ROSTER

Not this is not a major story here, just some movement in the Yankees personnel that you should know about and it's brought to you by our pal Pete Caldera of the Bergen Record who writes in his blog Pinstripe Posts the following:

"Catcher Kyle Higashioka and right-hander Domingo German were added to the Yankees' 40-man roster...Higashioka, 26, had a breakout offensive season in 2016, batting .276 with 21 home runs and 81 RBI in just 370 at-bats (102 games) combined at Class AA Trenton and Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

German, 24, went 1-3 with a 3.08 ERA in 10 combined starts (49.2 innings) at Class A Charleston and Class A Tampa, with 38 strikeouts, 11 walks and a 1.05 WHIP. German had Tommy John surgery in April of 2015."

Now I don't know about you, but I love the fact that there are so many nuggets about the youth the Yankees have right about now.  Plus, you gotta notice this... there are a ton of young pitchers and catchers and that makes me wonder about Brian McCann and whether or not he's truly expendable.

I mean, everyone loves the guy, a real team player... he still has a great bat, and still a solid catcher, but the Yankees seem to be in the new business of getting younger and his value will be higher this year than next if we decide to trade him away. Why would we you ask? Well... we have alot of young catching.

We have Gary Sanchez, Austin Romine, Kyle Higashioka... 3 on the 40 man roster, and McCann is 4th.  Do we need all these catchers? Something to think about... seriously.

Anyway... some good news from Caldera. Love this guy!

Carry on.
