THE YANKEES KICKED THE TIRES ON BAUTISTA
A small story but the New York Post is always great and so, I'm giving you this nugget brought to you by our pal Ken Davidoff...
"As part of his due diligence, Brian Cashman has reached out to the representatives for free-agent outfielders Yoenis Cespedes and Jose Bautista.
However, don’t bank on an intra-city battle for Cespedes’ services. Unless the Yankees trade one of their pricey outfielders Jacoby Ellsbury and Brett Gardner, which would alter their overall game plan, the team intends to let youngsters Aaron Judge and Aaron Hicks (and maybe Tyler Austin, too) compete for the starting right-field job and let the Mets and other teams engage most seriously for Cespedes (and Bautista, whom the Mets regard as a backup plan if Cespedes signs elsewhere)."
Now, I strongly doubt the Yankees will try and sign Bautista OR Yoenis Cespedes. In fact, when we released our story, SHOULD THE YANKEES GO AFTER YOENIS CESPEDES?, the other day, majority of the BYB Facebook family literally HATED the idea of Cespedes in pinstripes. To be honest, that's what I think folks will think about when it comes to Bautista too. I just don't see it.
Doesn't matter... this is the off season. There will be a ton of different rumors going around. The Post just brought you a few more, and BYB is on top of it for you. We're nice.
Carry on...
