COULD EDWIN ENCARNACION BE A YANKEE IN 2017?

Just a little nugget today as the Toronto Blue Jays are spared from elimination last evening but face a fierce Cleveland Indians tribe tonight in another potential departure from the journey to the World Series for the Jays.  Edwin Encarnacion, who was responsible for the two insurance runs the Blue Jays picked up after Terry Francona called for the intentional walk of Josh Donaldson to load the bases, could find himself in pinstripes or perhaps our rival team from Boston next season.

Jon Heyman reports that, "The Red Sox do seem most the most likely landing spot for Edwin Encarnacion, as was mentioned here many months ago. The Yankees and Rangers are viewed as among other possibilities."

"There's little doubt that inserting Encarnacion into the middle of the lineup would do nothing but good for the Yankees offense in 2017, but the Blue Jays will have an opportunity to choose between either he or longtime fan favorite Jose Bautista to sign to an extension this winter, "reported the YES Network today.

Early tweets from fans feel this moves the Yankees away from the game plan of going young with Encanarcion at age 33.

Could it be the Daniel Murphy curse for the Blue Jays if they sign Bautista instead of Encarnacion, allowing the latter to go to a Division or another AL team? We will find out in the coming weeks after the Series.

Keeping an eye on this developing story here at BYB.
