WORRIED ABOUT DILLON TATE'S VELOCITY? DON'T BE

Dillon Tate will be fine.

Many were worried about whether or not he would show consistent velocity after coming over from the Rangers.  That doesn't appear to be a problem.  In fact, NJ.com writes:

"The biggest concern regarding Tate was the mystery over why mph had melted off his fastball, which hit the high-90s in spring training and 100 mph when he pitched at University of California-Santa Barbara.

According to a report from FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman, there might be an answer to that mystery:

... Tate has big potential despite what they hope is a temporary slip in velocity this year. People close to him suggest the Rangers' workout regimen didn't work for him, for whatever reason, accounting for his sudden loss of speed."

Now, according to Pinstripe Prospects

"In his first two appearances for the Yankees South Atlantic Affiliate, the Charleston RiverDogs, Tate has gotten his fastball up to 96 miles per hour and his slider is registering in the mid-80s on the gun answering any lingering questions about his stuff coming off the injury.

Tate has made great progress in just a short amount of time."

Will we monitor Tate to see if he slips back and loses a few on his fast ball over time? Absolutely. Are we worried? Nope... we're excited here at BYB.

The youth movement is happening, folks.
