THE YANKEE FUTURE IS COMING, FOLKS!

First off, if you don't read Pete Caldera of the Bergen Record, you need to get your head checked.  By far, the best, and my favorite writer when it comes to the Yankees. He's one of the guys I have always admired for years and years, way before the birth of BYB.  These days however, I am thrilled that I can call him a friend.  He also still writes great!

Anyway, check out Future is now for Yankees in the Record today.  Nice feature about the Yankees youth movement, Jorge Mateo and Aaron Judge.  I am going to take from that column today, giving him full credit for a stand up job once again:

"Mateo had never faced a knuckleballer before Saturday, when he connected in his first at-bat off Red Sox right-hander Steven Wright. In the seventh inning, Judge ripped an opposite-field, three-run homer off right-hander Anthony Varvaro.

'You see how close they're getting and some of the talent level … and that's exciting for everyone in the organization,' manager Joe Girardi said after the Yankees' 6-4 exhibition win against a skeletal Red Sox lineup.

Having already shown off his trademark speed by tripling in his first exhibition game, Mateo tore around the bases on his third-inning, solo homer — losing his helmet before he reached second base as he raised his right hand triumphantly... 'My teammates told me to run hard all the time," Mateo said. "I also saw video of it and learned from it.'...

At 6-foot-7, 255 pounds, Judge's raw power is such that, 'he's going to miss balls and still hit them out,' said Girardi, who didn't believe the right-handed Judge had squared up Varvaro's high curveball.

After the Yanks had pulled off a double steal, Judge said he was just trying 'to stay inside and hit something to the right side and get a run in. That one just happened to keep going.'"

Look, these nuggets from Caldera's piece just gives you an idea of what we're dealing with here.  The Yankees have mad talent on the way up, and when everyone was bitching and moaning about how the Yankees made no trades at last year's deadline, we at BYB quickly reminded folks as to why with QUIT COMPLAINING! YOU GOT EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANTED!

Bottom line, be happy.  Let the kids stay... let the kids play.

Nice piece Caldera.
