THE YANKEES SIGNED TWO
Two more signings by the New York Yankees, and 2 more minor league deals. They also released 4 players in the process. Just a side note. Anyway... as far as the signings go, we go to Lou DiPietro of YESNetwork.com...
"The Yankees have signed infielder Jonathan Diaz and RHP Tyler Jones to minor-league deals... Diaz, 30, spent 2015 with the Blue Jays organization, hitting .223 in 118 games at Triple-A Buffalo and .154 in a seven-game cameo in the Majors. He played four positions last season - second base, shortstop, center field and left field...
Jones, 25, was an 11th-round pick of the Braves in 2011 and split last season between two Atlanta affiliates, posting a 2.50 combined ERA and 22 saves 65 strikeouts in 54 total innings. He spent the first month of the season at Class-A Advanced Carolina, going unscored upon and notching six saves in 10 games there, and he had a 3.07 ERA and 16 saves in 39 games after his promotion to Double-A Mississippi."
Boom! Nice work Di Pietro. We linked to you big guy.
In addition to those moves, the Yankees released 4 minor leaguers.
Taylor Garrison
Matt Borens
Corey Holmes
Lee Casas
