IVAN NOVA IS TRADE BAIT

Nothing surprising here, and I know the BYB audience is smart enough to know that the Yankees have several starting pitchers and will most likely want to move a few of them to free up some space in the hopes to actually upgrade the starting pitching situation by the time Spring training happens.    After all, the Yanks have already traded away Adam Warren for Starlin Castro, and the rumors of them wanting to trade Ivan Nova continue. The big question is, can they trade him.

The New York Post writes:

"Even though the Yankees have six starters, not counting Bryan Mitchell, there are questions attached to all of them...And since Ivan Nova, who’ll turn 29 next month, will likely command in the area of $4.5 million for this upcoming season, his last before free agency, the Yankees have let teams know he is available after a woeful 2015.

'They are offering him out there, but I don’t know if there’s any takers,’ the executive said of the right-hander."

And there may not be, and mostly because every team that looks to trade with the Yankees are looking at the kids, Greg Bird, Luis Severino, Aaron Judge and more.  Cashman will hopefully not budge from trading away those guys, and I am hoping that he can be crafty trading away a Ivan Nova, and a Brett Gardner and low level prospect as a way to bring in a solid upgrade starter.

But I gotta tell ya... I just don't know what's going on right now.  We'll keep you posted on Nova.  Not sure what will happen here, but it's still an interesting nugget.
