Earlier this week the Yankees released Jeff Pentland. He was part of the new tag team duo meant to whip our bats into shape. The Yankees tried something new, and it didn't work. Our second half of the season was pretty abysmal. And so, for the third time in as many seasons, the Yankees will have a new hitting coach.
BYB's own Jeana Bellezza wrote a monster piece about the possibilities 5 BRILLIANT OPTIONS FOR YANKEE HITTING COACH. She gave us a great opinion on who they might call on. From Tino Martinez to Don Mattingly. Honestly, she makes such valid points, it's difficult to argue against the logic. Of course, there is one more name I would throw into the hat.
Yea, you guessed it. Jorge Posada. Okay, I know, this is kind of like beating a dead horse, am I right? Jorge is enjoying retirement, and his family and... But maybe?
Jorge was a switch hitter, with a career BA of .273. He's spent all of his 17-year career in Yankees pinstripes. A five-time silver slugger, and All-Star. He is only the fifth catcher in MLB history to have at least 1,500 hits, 350 doubles, 275 home runs, and 1,000 RBI's in his career.

He also has a passion for the game that is undeniable. A passion that was mysteriously missing in the Yankees late in the season. The team needs some of that fire in their bellies to get the bats moving and keep them productive all the way through the season. Jorge has a natural leadership ability that will command the respect of the vets and youngsters alike.
Look, I know it's a long shot. I know Jorge is enjoying his retirement. But really, it would be amazing to have him back in the dugout. He definitely knows the game. As far as hitting coaches go, Jorge would be amazing.
Hey, Jorge? Consider it, maybe?
