BIRD IS THE WORD IN SCRANTON

Quick note about Greg Bird and him being in Scranton Wilkes-Barre.  He's been named International League Player of the Week.

According to YesNetwork.com, "Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders first baseman Greg Bird had his most productive week at the plate since being promoted to Triple-A, and his efforts aren't going unnoticed.

Bird, 22, received International League Player of the Week honors after batting .348, and leading the league with 10 RBI."

Obviously with Mark Teixeria at first base, there is no question it will be difficult for the Yankees to call Bird up, but I will suggest bringing him up with September call-ups right around the corner.  Give the kid a few big league at bats... let him sit alittle with the veterans and give him a chance to see what it's all about.  Lord knows he'll be here before we know it anyway.

Anyway... congrats to Greg Bird! We're excited for you!
