YANKS START SECOND HALF OFF STRONG
Tonight was a beautiful night for baseball. The Yankees needed a win because as you know, now that the All-Star break is over, they needed to turn it up a notch and start pulling away from their rivals in the American League East.
Masahiro Tanaka was on the mound and he looked good. He went 7 innings, gave up 5 hits and 3 runs. He struck out 7. The one thing that seemed odd to me was he gave up 2 home runs. It doesn't happen that often.
The Yankee scoring went like this:
In the second, Chris Young homered. In the 4th, Chase Headley singled and knocked in Young. Then, in the 5th, Brian McCann singled and drove in another run.
In the 7th, it was Alex Rodriguez homering.
Andrew Miller would eventually come in in the 9th and shut the door.
Just like that... the Yanks won and hopefully it continues...
Final: Yankees 4 - Mariners 3
