THE YANKEES MAY LIKE BEN ZOBRIST

Not sure how you feel about that headline. For me, I really don't care at this point, as long as if they get him, he contributes. That being said, here's a question, do the Yankees even need the dude?

Anyway, all this is is a trade nugget you should check out.  Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe did that weekly thing where he connects players to teams and sees what sticks.  I'm not slighting Cafardo, he's in the know... but it's obvious what he does, and I don't see any harm in it.  He tends to do it better than the others out there at least.

Anyway, according to Nick, the Yankees like Ben Zobrist:

"Despite not having the best of years, Zobrist remains sought-after, including by the Mets, Yankees, Giants, and Nationals. Zobrist, 34, has played three positions this season — 25 games in left field, 25 at second base, and three in right field. Zobrist has played only four career games at third base but could play there if needed."

Again, take what you will from that. The reality is, we don't even need Zobrist in my opinion... but it's the rumor season, so have fun with it.  You're smart enough to know what the priorities and non-priorities are for the Yanks. You can decipher rumors as well.
