TAKING THE AL EAST BY STORM
The Yankees are winning and they're winning by beating American League rivals. That's a good thing. As one of our readers wrote the other day... "We're starting to pull away." That's what you want right now. I'm liking what I'm seeing.
The Yanks had Ivan Nova on the hill last night. He went 6 giving up just 3 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 3. The dude looked decent out here. The other Orioles run was given up by Andrew Miller who stumbled a bit trying to secure his 22nd Save of the season, but he got it and nailed down the Yanks win.
The run scoring came from 2 guys not many had confidence in, but they're quickly proving they "still got it." Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez. Here's how it went down...
In the first, Brett Gardner singled knocking in Jacoby Ellsbury. After that it was Tex who hit a 2 run shot. Yanks were up by 3 at that point, but the Orioles, who never quit, quickly tattooed Nova with 2.
In the 5th, ARod hit a solo shot. Then, in the 9th, the O's tried coming back, but only scored 1. Miller then shut them down and just like that, Victory for the Yanks.
Day game today. Let's sweep the O's.
Final: Yankees 4 - Orioles 3
