PRICE & CESPEDES ARE AVAILABLE... YOU IN?
The latest report on a team dump comes from Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Turns out because the Tigers are so bad, they are willing to part with some pitching and slugging, and 2 names that have been dangled are David Price and Yoenis Cespedes. Now remember... this is a report, a rumor if you will.
According to Nightengale: "The Tigers, according to several people inside and outside the organization familiar with their strategy, plan to put ace David Price and power-hitting outfielder Yoenis Cespedes on the trade market. Yet, when contacted Monday, Tigers president and general manager Dave Dombrowski told USA TODAY Sports that no decision had been finalized."
Now one can look at that and consider a guy like David Price in our Yankees rotation. I know I do. It's a guy that could be a good fit at the right price right now. I want solid starting pitching for the Yankees down the stretch, he can fit that bill.
Sure Cespedes would possibly be available too, and BYB really wanted this kid when he was trying to get signed a while back, but let me ask you a question;
Do you want Yoenis, or do you want a September call up of Aaron Judge. See what I just did there? Everyone wants Judge. We don't really need Cespedes as much as we do pitching. That's what I think at least.
Look, these are just another few names we should be thinking about. No doubt, the rumor season can be fun.
Let's see what happens.
