THE YANKEES WIN AGAIN & I LIKE WRITING THAT
The Yankees beat the Red Sox 5 to 3 last night. This time it was guys like Jonathon Galvez who was 2 for 3 with a lead off single and then later, a triple that knocked in 3. It was guys like Chasen Shreve who went 2 scoreless innings. It was Mason Williams who doubled knocking in 2.
And what we're seeing here, are moments. Moments that stand out in Spring Training. Moments the build confidence... the same moments I tell my little leaguers to gain when their learning their craft in the gym every Saturday. Moments that when the season starts and it's time to get down to it, the fans want to see more of certain guys... because those guys impressed them. As Kentucky.com had it for some of the Red Sox pitching last night: "Rick Porcello surrendered three hits and two runs over three-plus frames in the start for Boston." Porcello wasn't truly dominant last night, but neither was Adam Warren.
Adam Warren started and went 3 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs. Not too bad, but that's why we're doing this exercise. We also saw Jacob Lindgren among others.
Look... in the end, the win doesn't really matter... the ability and moments do, and there were several. And yeah, while the win doesn't matter... it does to us fans. It does to me. We'll be seeing more of Porcello. We need to keep on this guy for the regular season. I like that. I like what we did last night.
Final: Yankees 5 - Red Sox 3
